21 DTU Students Study at Korean Partner Universities

21 students from DTU are to study at Chungbuk National University , Kyung Hee University, Sejong University, and Dong-A University through a partnership program.

Out of these, eight outstanding students arrived in South Korea on March 1st to take part in the CBNU G-Cruit program and the 3+2 Bachelor Master Linked Program at Chungbuk National University.

Eleven more students will go to Chungbuk National University, Kyung Hee University, Sejong University, and Dong-A University after being selected for the Student Exchange Program. They will study there for one year, and their credits for corresponding courses will be transferred.

Finally, two DTU students received the Global Korea Scholarship from the South Korean government. This is a fully-funded program for international students wishing to study at top universities and research institutes in South Korea.

These students will study majors such as CMU-standard Software Engineering, CMU-standard Management Information Systems, PSU-standard Business Administration, and Data Science.

DTU and Chungbuk National University launched the 3+2 Bachelor Master Linked Program in May 29, 2024. Continuing the collaboration, CBNU launched the CBNU G-Cruit scholarship for outstanding graduate students at DTU earlier this year.

To be eligible for these programs, students must meet English language proficiency requirements and have a GPA of at least 3.2/4.0. Those enrolled in the program will have their tuition fees completely waived for the two years at Chungbuk National University. Students study the first three years at DTU and the final two years in Korea: the first six months completing remaining courses in the program of the Vietnamese university, followed by one and a half years to earn a Masters degree from Chungbuk National University.

Upon completion of the 5-year 3+2 Bachelor Master Linked Program and of CBNU G-Cruit, students will receive a Bachelors degree from DTU and a Masters degree from Chungbuk National University, improving their competitiveness in the global job market.

Phan Hoang Long, a student of CMU-standard Software Engineering who was accepted into CBNU G-Cruit, explains how he learned about the Chungbuk National University program and scholarship at the InCiTE Summer School. Recognizing the valuable opportunity, he actively sought more information and contacted Dr Nguyen Duc Man, Vice Dean of the International School, to enter the admissions process.

What motivated Long to pursue this program were the chance to start research early and study in an international environment at a reasonable cost, and his dream of becoming a lecturer or scientist later on.

This will be an important stepping stone, Long adds. Itll allow me to connect with leading professors, publish international papers, and, most importantly, Ill get a globally recognized Masters degree, which will open doors to doctoral scholarships after.

According to Long, his journey at DTU has helped him grow, from his more proactive learning and his English proficiency to soft skills such as teamwork, time management, and effective communication. All of these give him more confidence as he prepares to enter an international environment.

DTU and Chungbuk National University established a joint Student Exchange Program in 2018. So far, over fifty DTU students have gone to South Korea for studies, while more than ten CBNU students have come to DTU to experience the Vietnamese educational environment. The two universities have furthermore strengthened scientific research cooperation, including the project Study of the Adventitious Root System of Medicinal Plants in a Bio-reactor System and Secondary Compound Analysis.

The linked training programs and the student exchange programs between DTU and South Korean universities provide students with access to advanced education in South Korea, as well as opportunities to enhance their professional knowledge, develop soft skills, and explore new cultures.
